September Partner Letter
Hello partners and friends I want to ask you a question that the Father just gave me. How is
your focus? Well I looked up “focus” in the Webster’s 1828 dictionary and saw several
explanations but this one seemed to best define what God is asking us, A central point; point of
concentration. So, it appears that He wants to know what is at the center of our thought life.
Let’s look at some places and get insight on our focus and if needed make the necessary changes
to make sure He is the point of our concentration.
In 2 Chronicles chapter twenty we see that Jehoshaphat and his people are about to be under
attack from “the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the
Ammonites, came” in verse one. Immediately after that information was made known to him,
what tried to get his focus or become the point of concentration? Well in verse three it says
“FEAR”. I am sure that many of us have heard something or seen something of even thought of
something that the devil used to try to get our focus with fear. Let me toss this in as I just heard
it, Fear is a gift from the enemy that has to be received and not a force that will over power us.
That fits with what The Holy Spirit said by the Apostle Paul in 2Timothy 1:7 For God hath NOT
GIVEN us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. It (fear) has to be
received, what would happen if we don’t receive it. Let’s go back to 2 Chronicles chapter 2o
and see. Remember that fear came at Jehoshaphat but did it stop him and get his attention, NO!
It says in 2Ch 20:4-13 he gathered all the people “to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the
cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD… 12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we
have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do:
BUT OUR EYES ARE UPON THEE… Wow! It appears that when satan wanted to get their
focus on fear, they chose to keep their focus on God.
Did God give them an answer? You better believe He did! In verses fourteen through seventeen
we see God’s response. Then upon Jahaziel… came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the
congregation; And he said,”…Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed (STAY
FOCUSED) by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's… Ye shall
not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and SEE the salvation of the LORD
with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for
the LORD will be with you.
Now, that they had decided to keep God as the point of their concentration God was able to give
them something else to focus on, Him and as they stayed focused on Him, He not only answered
their prayer, but gave them other things to do which enabled Him to fight for them as He said He
At this point I must point out one fact that has to be stated. While they were all praying to God
for answers, what kept their enemies from attacking? The scriptures said they were all seeking
God for answers. Which mean that when they turned their backs to their problem, God kept the
enemy form attacking them while He was giving them His answer and His plan. Amen!
Now, as I stated earlier God answered them and they showed their appreciation and confidence
in God in verses 18,19 And Jehoshaphat…and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell
before the LORD, worshipping the LORD. And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and
of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on
Notice that praise had two parts to it, the people praised God, but praise was also turned on the
enemy as a way to stop what they wanted to do. How is praise a weapon? Let’s look at Psa 8:
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine
enemies, that thou mightest still (stop) the enemy and the avenger
Notice while Jehoshaphat and the people were worshipping and praising God. God was giving a
battle plan to Jehoshaphat which resulted in God winning a great victory for them and them
getting greatly blessed! And instead of going home in fear having suffered great loss they went
home blessing God for all He had done for them.
Let’s read in 2Ch 20:21-28 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers
unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness as they went out before the army,
and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and
to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount
Seir…and they were smitten…every one helped to destroy another. And when Judah came
toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were
dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to
take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead
bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry
away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much…And they blessed the
LORD...Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront
of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their
enemies. And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of
I close with Matthew 6:33, 34 Jesus says,” But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the
morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the
When we focus on Jesus, decisions seem to be much simpler that when we try to take into
account everything that is going on around us.
